Many people over the past year have said to me that hey, you manage your time quiet well. I am no topper but I get good marks, manage a chess club, do website work and used to go gym in the past too- everyone thinks it is some magic or an inhumane task. Reality? It isn’t.
Why? If I have to summarize my whole next post in two lines, then it is that, I don’t manage my time well. In my opinion, others don’t try to manage their time.
Let’s break it down. Say, we have classes from 8-4 PM. After 4 PM, say we rest till 5 PM and chill around or eat snacks till 5:30 PM. What after that? It’s not like that we study 4-5 hours daily. Let’s ASSUME, we study for 1.5 hours. Reality is that we don’t study, or we study for like 30 minutes that too not regularly. But for the sake of the worst case scenario, let’s take it that we study for 1.5 hours daily. That brings the time to 7 PM. Now what?
Let’s include dinner, talking with friends, going out for a walk- at max 2 hours. That brings us to 9 PM. What after that?
My point? Even in the worst of cases, we have ample of free time left. Most of us sleep at 12 or 1 AM. Imagine from 9PM, we can have 3 to 4 hours of free time even in the worst case. Imagine the everyday scenario, where we actually do not study for 1.5 hours daily or that we don’t take 2 hours for dinner+friends+walk.
Most of us spend those free hours in watching reels, sleeping etc.. that we don’t realise time pass by quickly. Most of us go by MBBS in auto pilot mode. Then we think that MBBS life is hectic.
If we become conscious of our time, I am sure that one can easily fix 40 minutes of gym or 1 hour of website work or so into our schedule. It isn’t that hard. If you try, it’s actually pretty easy. Interesting thing is even after fitting those ‘productive’ tasks, you will still have ample time to have fun or go out.
So to summarise, the key is not to go about everyday on auto-pilot mode and be conscious of our time. If we think on it, we do have ample time with us.
